A targeted treatment focused on the specific areas where you carry tension, rather than a general full-body routine.
Appointments take place in our private home-based treatment studio in Sippy Downs.
Remedial massage starts with a conversation. Lee will ask where you feel tightness, what you were doing when you noticed it, what makes it better or worse, and what you want out of the session. That shapes where the time goes.
The treatment then concentrates on those areas rather than spreading evenly over the whole body. Techniques are chosen to suit the area and how it responds — sustained pressure on tight bands of muscle, slower work along the length of a muscle, and passive movement of the joint where that helps.
Because the time is focused, a 60 minute remedial treatment covers less of the body than a 60 minute relaxation massage, but covers those areas in far more detail. If you have several areas of concern, the 90 minute session is usually the better choice.
Firmer and more sustained than relaxation massage, but the aim is effectiveness rather than intensity for its own sake. Working harder is not the same as working better.
Lee will check pressure as the treatment progresses, and it can be eased or increased at any time. A useful guide: pressure that makes you want to breathe more deeply is generally productive; pressure that makes you hold your breath or tense up is counterproductive.
Tell Lee straight away if anything feels sharp, radiating or genuinely painful rather than firm.
Remedial massage concentrates on specific areas of tension and uses firmer, more sustained techniques, with time spent where you need it. Relaxation massage moves through the body with flowing, even strokes and is designed primarily to help you unwind.
Please ask when you book. Whether a rebate can be claimed depends on the therapist's provider status with your specific health fund, so it is best confirmed directly rather than assumed.
Sixty minutes is enough for one area, such as neck and shoulders. If you have two or more areas of concern, or you want a general treatment plus focused work, book 90 minutes so nothing gets rushed.
It should feel firm and purposeful, not painful. Pressure is adjusted to you and checked during the treatment. Some tenderness in the areas worked on for a day afterwards is normal.
Massage can help ease muscular tension and many people find it useful for how their back feels, but it is not a diagnosis and not a substitute for medical care. If your pain is severe, worsening, or came on suddenly without explanation, please see your doctor first.
